About me, or YOU?
So you’d like to learn a little more about the creator? Well, this is one of those moments where, as a female, I could go on and on and on…so forgive me when I do!
Molehill Marketing (UK), the parent of MySmallBusinessBible.com, was developed by me, Marie, with the help of great determination and faith. It was clear from a young age that I would pursue my own ventures, but no-one really knew what they would be, including me.
Having studied Business Studies at college, when my partner decided he would give self-employment a shot, I was very keen to help in any way possible - but my, he had no idea about the journey ahead of him and what he was letting himself in for…! But thanks to his business, my jobs, the internet and my entrepreneurial colleagues, I had the opportunity to learn something new about business, marketing and the internet, every single day, and I will continue to do so.
Take a minute to evaluate what you are good at. Not what you do, what you know and what you think you want to do…what are you good at?
For example, I would say I’m a great ideas person, a quick learner, determined, I really enjoy helping people and I get things done; however, I have my downfalls, as most of us do! I’m often looking for reassurance when I shouldn’t be, things can get rushed because I want things done and out of the way, and my spelling seems to be getting seemingly worse!!!! (Please forgive any remaining typos and silly mistakes on the site – we will eliminate them, I’m just a touch dyslexic and even the ‘greatest’ proof reader’s miss the odd one! You can tell me about any you find & we’ll correct them asap!)
Evaluating your strengths and
weaknesses will really help you in the long run; for example, I’m an expert at drawing up draft ideas and content, but I always turn to my partner for artistic perfection, my dad for critical in-put and my ex-colleague for proofing and feedback…it works out well for me, and it really saves time and heart ache in the long run!
Through my fortunate experience in the work place, I met so many people who were more than willing to get me involved in marketing, event management, web development, account management and, in-turn, they built my confidence and determination to learn and figure out what I had and wanted to offer. The circumstances above fueled me to keep learning about what was out there, what people were offering, doing, and who was getting it right and more importantly, how they were getting it right.
So, in short, MySmallBusinessBible.com originated from a combination of determination to learn, a desire to help and a willingness to share.
By establishing what your interests or services are, and with a little help from the free advice around you, you should be able to identify what will work better for you as a person and a business. Once you can start visualising your ideas and you know what sort of content you will use through conducting your research, you can start to establish what route to market you would like to take to reach your target audience.
Whether you’re a small external facing business or a large corporation, the need for up-to-date marketing is increasingly important in this ever changing, competitive world, and the new tools available are forever growing.
You need to keep up with the changes and make them work for you – people are doing it, they are doing it well and it doesn’t have to cost the earth.
My advice to you is analyse what you’ve got and what you want, then try to improve your time management at work and at home; this will assist you in so many ways – you won’t feel so guilty at work when you’ve prioritised and achieved most of your tasks, but most importantly of all, you may well have lots of ideas because you’re relaxed! But forgoodness-sake do your research. There is a huge scope for business on the internet, but you need to make sure your market is lucrative and interesting to your audience for you to succeed! You have been warned!
